ESSENTIAL POSTNATAL CARE FOR YOU AND BABY WITH TRUSTED OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY SPECIALISTS

Priority Postnatal Care for a Healthy Beginning

The postnatal period is defined at the timeframe it typically takes for the mother to return her body to its pre-pregnancy state, around six to eight weeks. This time period we plan to see our patients at a two-week postpartum visit and a six-week postpartum visit. These appointments are very important to establish the best postnatal care with our obstetrics and gynecology specialists and to ensure proper health of mom and baby.

Studies have shown that during the postnatal period mom and baby can be at risk for serious issues. Ensuring that you maintain your appointment(s) with your OBGYN post-delivery is very important to receive proper monitoring of the health of both mom and baby to help avoid serious issues or postpartum complications.

What to Expect with Postnatal Care

The postnatal care will provide a check up on mom to help with any breastfeeding questions or issues and to screen for postpartum depression.

It is common for new moms to experience many emotional and physical changes. Staying close and keeping your OBGYN informed of any changes or concerns will be very important. Your women to women OBGYN at North Valley Women’s Care will help you through these changes and provide the best support for an easier transition with your new baby and recovering body.

For a new mom or an experienced one, each baby and pregnancy comes with different needs. These visits also assist moms with planning for the future with new baby as well as with counseling through the changes of your body, and what to expect going forward.

Moms Need Adequate Care Too!

There are many important factors a new mother must also consider and employ when she brings her new baby home, and this is self-care!

Your OBGYN will stress the importance of and guide you with getting enough rest, adequate nutrition, and getting into a daily exercise routine. These self-care practices will help you with any emotional and physical changes you may be experiencing.

Providing You with Support Through the Journey of Motherhood

Your OBGYN will provide you with recommendations for local pediatricians who will assess and monitor baby’s growth and health. To prepare you for the pediatrician appointment, the baby’s growth, development and feeding habits with adequate nutrition will all be assessed and discussed as well.

All questions mom has about her new baby will be addressed during this visit as well, such as:

  • Baby’s feeding schedule
  • Baby’s sleep schedule
  • Baby’s behaviors
  • Any worries or concerns
  • Questions about baby’s health
  • Breastfeeding help
  • “Do’s and don’ts” questions
  • And whatever else comes to mind, ask away!

This is a beautiful journey for you and your newborn. North Valley Women’s Care is happy to help along the way to provide an easier transition into motherhood with your first or your fifth!

We are proud and honored to be your preferred Glendale OBGYN taking care of all your needs with your newborn.
