The da Vinci Hysterectomy
For a benign hysterectomy, non-cancerous, Dr. Austin will remove the uterus using robot-assisted equipment. This is the state-of-the-art technology to provide the best, accurate and detailed hysterectomy with very little intrusion to the body.
Incisions for the hysterectomy are in the vagina and the abdomen that are less than 1cm long to remove the uterus. This method avoids any visible scarring and decreased recovery time.
The Benefits of the da Vinci Hysterectomy:
Opposed to the traditional open-belly surgery hysterectomy, this minimally invasive procedure:
- requires less recovery time
- produces less risk for infection
- less chances of complications
- smaller incisions mean less scarring
- due to less time in the operating room, the cost is a lot less as well
Our women to women OBGYN, Dr. Austin has been medically trained in performing hysterectomies and prefers the da Vinci method due to the many benefits listed above.
Your OBGYN will discuss with you the options for the hysterectomy and to determine if you are match candidate for the da Vinci minimally invasive procedure. Factors are contingent upon the presence of previous scar tissue, obesity, the uterus size and the overall health of the patient.
We genuinely care for our your health and comfort. Dr. Austin only recommends procedures in the best interest of each patient’s health.
Why Your OBGYN Would Recommend a Hysterectomy
Patients who are experiencing different symptoms and have gone a full, thorough exam where the following have been diagnosed would be candidates for a hysterectomy:
- Uterine fibroids that cause discomfort and bleeding
- A prolapse of the uterine, when the patient experiences the fall of the uterus into the vaginal canal
- Cancer of the uterus, cervix, or ovaries
- Abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Adenomyosis, or a thickening of the uterus
